other information
Snacks: We encourage healthy
eating and ask parents to provide a
fruit and/or vegetable snack, which
should be brought in a lunch box
marked with the child’s name. We
provide 1/3 carton of milk for the
mid-morning snack. Should your child
not drink milk, which we encourage,
we provide water, or whatever you
send with the snack.

Clothing: Although we provide
aprons for our messier activities,
mess has an uncanny way of finding
its way under the apron, so please
do not dress your child in anything
special for school. Many “accidents”
in the toilets could be avoided if
clothing was easier for children to
manage themselves, especially when
they are desperate! Of course,
accidents will occur. This is never a
problem - we have a chest full of
spare clothing which we keep for
these occasions. We do like you to
have started toilet training and are
happy to continue the process.
Tip! White PVA glue on clothing is best washed in
cold water as hot water sets it!
Paint is best removed by washing in cold/cool
water with ordinary household soap before
washing in a machine.
Policies: A copy of all our policies is available on the display board. Upon demand an entire set of policies is available at a small
charge to cover printing costs.

Premises: The nursery school is lucky to be housed in the Scout and Guide Headquarters, on Bisley Green. The setting is light,
airy and spacious. There are three rooms and an outside area. The main room contains all the Montessori equipment, book corner,
and a computer area. There is one room dedicated to Art and Craft and another for dressing up and role-play.

Keyworker system: Each child has a keyworker who monitors their development, working closely with the family. The keyworker
writes a report on each child, aged 3 and above, at the end of each term. For children below 3, the key worker discusses progress
on an individual basis. Every child has an individual learning plan for the term, which ensures children are working towards the goals
in the curriculum. Parents are included in planning for their child’s next steps, as are the children themselves.
School bags and news books: When the child starts
the nursery they will be given a news book, in which the
parent could tell us something that has happened
recently in the daily life of the child, such as a new baby
brother, or an exciting weekend, or any bad news, which
will help us with your child.

Discipline: Our essential aim is to foster self-discipline
and respect for others. When a child misbehaves a
teacher explains what has gone wrong. For further details
refer to our policy.
Complaints: Should you have any complaints, questions
or queries, please come forward with them without any
hesitation, by speaking to the principal. Please see our
complaints procedure for further details. You may also
telephone Ofstead direct on 08456 404040.
